Cookie Policy

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies StackAdvise uses, and how you control them. We take a deliberately light approach: nothing non-essential loads unless you have said yes.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. "Similar technologies" includes things like local storage. Some are essential to make a site work; others are used for analytics or advertising and, under EU rules, may only be set with your consent.

Our approach

By default, StackAdvise sets only strictly necessary storage — for example, a small record of your cookie choice so we don't ask again on every page. These do not require consent because the site cannot function properly without them.

We do not currently run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and our analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) is cookieless. If we ever add analytics or marketing cookies that are not essential, they will load only after you accept them in the cookie banner.

Categories we may use

Strictly necessary (always on)

Remembering your consent choice and keeping the site secure and functional. No consent required.

Analytics (consent-based; currently cookieless)

Aggregated usage statistics. Today this is handled by a cookieless tool, so no cookie is set. Any future cookie-based analytics would be off until you opt in.

Affiliate / referral (set by partners)

When you click an outbound affiliate link and arrive on a partner's site, that partner may set a cookie on their domain to attribute the referral to us. We do not set or read those cookies; they are governed by the partner's own cookie and privacy policies.

Third parties

Two third parties can involve storage: our newsletter provider beehiiv (only if you interact with the signup form) and the affiliate partners you click through to. Each has its own policy.

Managing your consent

You can change your mind at any time by selecting "Cookie settings" in the footer to reopen the consent banner. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings; blocking strictly necessary storage may affect how the site remembers your preferences.

Changes

If our use of cookies changes, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
